The Problem
Research
I was engaged in this project to understand and explore the spectator experience at a multi-day event. I aimed to investigate how a digital platform can enhance the experience and take into account the needs and expectations of attendees and stakeholders.
I assisted in the script writing, research preparation and conducted five 1:1 interviews across different demographic, all attending a range of multi-day events.
This was my first time conducting an interview for UX research, but with my prior knowledge from marketing I picked it up quite quickly by transferring the same skills just under a different context.

How can we understand and better design for the spectator experience in a multi-day event held in Australia?
My focal point for this project, was to help conduct user research and create low fidelity wireframes and help support the prototype design.
I gathered over 300+ qualitative data points. Using affinity diagramming I grouped these data points into categories, which allowed me to slowly start seeing the insights spread across all the interviews. Each sticky note represents an idea, insights, pain point, motivation or opinion.
The research highlighted four crucial touchpoints that I mapped a feature list to address insights at specific touchpoints. This features list includes interactions that will give a user an opportunity to resolve a previously experience pain point.
The feature list helped guide my approach when designing the interface. I like to start with sketches, it’s just a quick way to get that ideating process down pat. It also prevents me from being too bogged down by one idea.
After discussing with my team, I transferred the selected screens into low fidelity wireframes on Figma.
